Beautiful. I have this DVD with Jaco. Really great. Thanks for the post!

I was 19 and in my second year of college at Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks when my girlfriend called and said that she got tickets to see Joni in Santa Barbara that night. About a 40 min drive from my school. Needless to say we went, and to this day it remains the greatest experience/concert I have ever seen and will ever see.

@chuckm51 I didn't see this particular concert, but I did see one of the concerts on this tour, in Edwardsville, Illinois at SIU, also an outdoor ampitheater. I was in high school. When I saw Jaco Pastorius, Pat Metheny, Lyle Mays, and Michael Brecker walk out on stage I couldn't believe my eyes and ears! It was an amazing experience

@talerdudansk Everyone does. LOL Almost everyone's heard of her. North Americans anyways, at least. :)

age said I started listening to Joni cuz I was into Led Zeppelin and Jimmy at home
she is what he listens to. So i went from Led Zep to Court and Spark. I can still
remember how the first chord of c and spark hit me like something beautiful but unlike anything i ever heard. Her world is full of otherworldly melodies and the true dignity and power of woman. Her music feeds and feels

@ghanick This is my fave performance of this song too, including the original recording.

If I am correct, this is when I saw Joni in Santa Barbara, California. Oh what a pleasure to sit there on the lawn and see this amazing beautiful lady sing. Love her!
Probably my favorite Joni song, if it is even possible to categorize them. I've heard the '83 version and the '98 version of this song, and in my opinion, this is the best live one (save for the original recording on "Hejira"). Her voice here was still sweet enough to convey the sense of loss and longing -- and this is no judgement of the changes in Joni's voice over the years. This song will always take me to another place. It is timeless and beautiful. God smiles when Joni sings.

@exposed97 You have my deepest sympathy for your loss of individual thought and the triumph of fear, superstition and ignorance over your intellect...but to profane Joni Mitchell with this Inquisitionary nonsense is in fact a mortal sin...So burn in hell, heretic.
