Nice tank, how many gallons is it?

if you dont get sand that has been treated, then put a thin layer on a cookie sheet and bake it at 350 for an hour, it takes a while but youll save money in the long run if your worried about bacteria, which if you have a lot of money invested in a tank, its a good precaution to take!

Is that really playground sand? I've thought of that but was afraid at what could happen. Beautiful tank.

hi love your aquarium bro i got a question for you i have a frican chichild tan ku can check mine out i want to know if black convict can mix with them since i saw u mix them. Also is it hard to siphon your substrate since it is sand

thanks, you have a nice tank too. Yes, you can mix a black convict with your africans. Convicts do well in many different water parameters- they are very tough fish. You can mix most Central American cichlids with Africans, but not as easily with South Americans (water parameters are not as close, and colors become dull).

Sand makes it easy to clean the tank. All of the food is completely eaten since it stays on the top. You just skim the top of the sand when siphoning...very easy. You might lose just a bit of sand, but it's not a big deal- you can just use pool filter or playground sand. Like $3-5 for 50 pounds.
