I couldn't see if the former United States Coast Guard vessel still retains the Phalanx CIWS or if it had indeed being removed. Anyway the Hamilton class cutter is still a big step up from the WW2 era destroyer as the Hamilton class has some point missile defence in the 76mm gun which would be aided if the Phalanx was retained. In addition the Hamilton Class Cutter is capable of carrying Harpoon missiles if needed.

@sl2k4u this is to deter. IF the chinese attack, we (America) would stop them in a heartbeat. The Chinese would never be allowed to attack our closest asian ally, the Philippines. American troops have died before defending the Filipinos in the 1940s from the japanese (Batayan March of Death) and we would do it again. We love the Philippines-a country of freedom, democracy, and beliefs very close with ours.

We have to depend our own territorial sovereign rights. It should be done long time ago if the previous gov't officials do it patriotically for the bright future of our countrymen. A world class Military Combat battalion, Air and Naval superiority among Asian neighbors, peace and stability within Philippines archipelago.
