  • @Thijsie92 Sorry, apologies Thijsie92. I will try not to make the same mistake in future. :-)

  • @petermackett37 I heard the Mortier last summer and it did not play 'singin in the rain' to its usual standard. The two Gavis, the Carl Frei, the Hooghys and the Marenghi all seemed to play well, however the bellows on the Wellerhaus do struggle with long chords and the like, and must need releathering or something, likewise the 'de Leuwin' draaiorgel sometimes struggles and must need a bit of repair as well.

  • @ceredigio Replying to messages that are several years old often means you lose the context. When this video was originally uploaded the uploader's description said that the organ was called Amsterdam. I was simply correcting him, so no need to inform me about that.

  • @ceredigio I have that recording too and this is the same book, sadly the organs at Thursford are all in need of work now, apparently the Mortier hardly plays!

  • @Thijsie92 I believe 'Amsterdam' is/was the name of a Duwyn draaiorgel presently resident at the Craig Robson collection in Sydney, Australia. This DeCap only has 'Amsterdam' on its front because Henk Mohlman put it there when he restored it on its arrival in the UK.

  • @petermackett37 Thanks Peter! The version I have a recording of (on a nice compilation tape of most of the Thursford organs entitled 'Carousel' which I bought at the museum some years back) sounds a bit different to this one. The decap seems somewhat starved of wind at places in this video, whereas in the recording it is playing with no mishaps. Maybe that is the difference?

  • @ceredigio Arthur Prinsen.

  • @petermackett37 Well-known as the theme from 'doctor zhivago'. Who arranged this version? I'm sure the decap has two versions in its library!

  • Somewhere my love.
