Some time ago I saw a 4 parts video tutorial on modeling a head in Modo. I can't remember the artists name but the video tutorials had a water mark that said toonafish dot nl. I went to the site to find out who the artist is, but I don't see the tutorial there. So this credit goes to whom ever it was that made the Model Head in Modo. I might add that the artist's method of forming the details of the head is absolutely amazing.

In this tutorial I'm going to use the artist's method of modeling a head in Blender. I'm also using another artist, Eric Terrier's method of creating references for the mesh by using bezier curves.

  • Hi, looks good!

BTW, The Modo tutorial you mention was done by me, Ronald van Vemden, aka Toonafish. Actually, it's a 6 part tutorial, you can also find it in the Modo modeling section at free3dtutorials. I don't have it on my webpage because I don't have a tutorial section...yet.

Cheers, and keep up the good work !

  • @rponnie Thanks to you.:)

Well, I'm glad to have finally learned who the skilled artist was. Thanks for the info and the link to the site. I checked out the parts 5 & 6. They are great. I like the fact that the video tutorials were in larger size that I had seen before.

  • Good technique your very good.

And could you sent me the reference curves for the head i am learning modeling right now so it would be gread if i learn it with a good reference "Image"????

  • I don't have those files available anymore due to HD crash. Use a front and side view reference image and then Draw an outline around your reference image and other features of the face in both front and side. You can either use bizier curves or grease pencil to do that.

  • Great video i am always fascinated with the human face when it comes to art!!! RATED 5 STARS!!!AND SUB!!!

  • Thanks!

  • @jollibeebonita I'm sorry, but I don't understand the question. What plane are you talking about?

  • At the bottom of the 3d viewport click on View from the menu. Than Background Image, then Use Background Image and load your image. Do this for front and side views.

  • How do you set up the pic behind the modeling??
