I took the display out of my 8500 and mounted the detector below. I then mounted the display on the tach and powered an led from the speaker. I have auto mute turned on so it stops blinking after a couple. It's bright enough to grab my attention in the daylight also.
@welcometothepros I took apart my detector and soldered an extension to bring the display to the dash. Then I took an LED and a pair of headphones, cut off the headphones and soldered in the LED. Must use shielded wire.
