  • Do not go to Radio Shack for these caps - they are the wrong type! Use only 105C, low-ESR type caps such as Panasonic FC series. Do a web search for EEU-FC1E102L for best grade replacements for the 1000uF caps. Less than a buck apiece and you are getting superior caps that are the right type for this board.

  • @allcarbdiet the capacitors i took out were 1000Np and 10V but radio shack only had 1000np and 35 V which works fine they only costed like $1.78 each. and the soldering iron doesn't matter. it may be a good idea to get a solder vacuum as well

  • What type of capacitors do i need to buy? Any specific soldering iron?

  • I can't remove the cage. I took out 8 screws and the cage still won't come off, it feels like there's a screw in the middle somewhere, but i can't find it. Help!

    Thanks

  • @princeofd Ok. So as a follow up and in the interests of fairness. I just rang Samsung Customer Service (UK) to report my fault and once I gave them the model number, the person helping me said without hesitating that they would fix the problem free of charge. I guess I am the beneficiary of all those people who complained about shoddy customer service by Samsung and who managed to get Samsung to acknowledge the design fault. But credit where credit is due - good work Samsung.

  • @EUROSTAR1 I have a 2007 52" LCD as well and am having the same problem. There are thousands of people with this issue both here and in the USA and clearly this is a design fault that Samsung should be obliged to repair, warranty or not. Having people needing to do DIY on products that they invested thousands of GBP on is simply unacceptable. wizzywigterry thanks for posting this. I'm off to Maplin today to get the capacitors and a soldering iron.

  • Excellent job, it works very well. I have a 2007 52” LCD it was giving same problem for the last few months. Repair estimate was £380, looked at video bought two capacitors from Maplin for 84p and TV is now working as good as new. Many thanks, you saved me money, trip to the tip and TV has better reception and many other things are now working which never worked before.

  • hello mate , where did you get the capacitor,s from as i have a 40 inch lcd and it clicks when i turn it on can you tell me what i need to replaces these,s cheers phil
