Henry Jerome, a former bandleader, went into record producing, and ended up forming a studio band to release a series of nine LPs for Decca under the moniker "Brazen Brass." The trademark sound was stereo enhanced by recording an equal number of trumpets per channel, muted horns on one and open horns on the other. Jerome said the technique was "To have my open brass on left speaker talk musically to the muted brass section on the right in musical phrases and be able to reverse them.
