I find it funny that everyone seems to think the word "marriage" is purely religious (mainly Christian), when in fact, a marriage does not ALWAYS have to be based on religion in order to be called a marriage, no matter who used the word first or whence it appears to hail. A woman and woman married, as equally a man and a man whom are as well, outside of any lines of religion, should be allowed to call it their "marriage".
@MissJohannaThorn Yes of course but originally marriage is a religious bond. It is of course great that everyone can get married even though they are not religious. I'm just saying that marriage originally is a religious bond.
@olwerXL A marriage is a religious bond when it is done in religion, as through churches and other structures/buildings, and authorized by a person in accordance with the religion. I can, however, marry a person by the side of a lake, with somebody authorized to legalize it (not a minister, or any other religious type), and still be allowed to call it a marriage, no matter the sex of whom I'm marrying. I understand where you're coming from, though.
@disturbedking8 Well, if the Bible says that homosexuality is an abomination then I think that people who are homosexual should not have to get married the Christian way. I actually think that gay marriage should be legal everywhere but you have to keep in mind that marriage is a religious bond (except when it's done through courts).
@olwerXL Marriage can be done through courts, first of all. But even if that wasn't a possibility, what about gay christians? It's safe to say many gay people are religious, but they obviously don't believe they're going to hell for their actions. Why shouldn't they be able to practice their religious act?
@Kimikimer Actually it is not a version in any way whatsoever because I was comparing the OPPRESSION not the race vs sexual orientation. The oppression that ANYONE can experience, whether you are rainbow straight gay or all of the above. And uhh my bad analogy got me 30 likes, So I think I will take the other people's word for it and not your broken english. Goodbye ignorant person, you are officially blocked
Do civil unions grant the exact same rights as marriage?

@TheBgoz Also I want to let you know that I am not against gay marriage at all.

@olwerXL marriage isn't a religious act. atheists get married, people marry for money/to have trophy wives, & it's ok if it's between a man & a woman.
so why not let 2 people who legitimately love each other get married?
