1954 Austin Somerset, the last of the chassis A40 models. It has a 40 bhp engine with 4 gears in the column. The performance with so little power, is not up to today's fast moving traffic. The priorities shown in the details in the construction of the grill, are at odds with the lack of a sun visor for the passenger.
Still this car has personality and that is more than can be said of so many modern "appliances"

  • Where was this display of old Austins?

The green car at the start of the video is an A 40 Devon from 1948-1952.

The blue convertible is an A40 Dorset (1948) The red sports convertible is an A 90 Atlantic. (1949 onwards)

Great to see these classic Austins all in the one video!

  • @OzzInter Thank you. The cars were filmed at and nearby Caloundra airport Queensland

  • VINTAGE Original, uncut Austin key for auction. If anyone is interested.

  • Love the Devon coupe!! I have a 53 summerset coupe sitting in the barn in need of love, hope it looks half as good when it's done.

  • was that an old ford skyliner among the austins?

  • Gorgeous looking cars!

  • beautiful classic cars, thumbs up. I've done a video of a 1920's Austin 20

  • sorry I may have pressed dislike, if so, my apologies, was too busy watching the video, loved these cars, sad thing was that on a quiet night you could hear them rusting.

  • Very nice. When I was a kid in the 60's I had a large model of the Somerset which was battery powered - not remote control, but it would go round in large circles all on its own, with headlights on. Wonderful.
