Amii Stewart was a genius at taking old standards and turning them into timeless disco classics

@PtolemyJones This is a problem I do find with many of Amii Stewart's songs...they just suffer from poor production. Amii herself is great. She is a fantastic singer and dancer no doubt. Her voice is fantastic...it just the bad arrangements of quite the many of her songs that get my goat. I am like PLEASE someone write a great song for Amii. Knock On Wood was just the one song that got it all right for Amii.

Interesting. I think she had the chops to pull this off, but the tempo was too slow, and the band not up to snuff. Shame, would have been fun to hear her give this tune a real go.

Agreed. She is clearly much more than a disco queen.

Altho one can always argue what is better, the original or the cover, her versions are *at least* fine (and very interesting) musical contributions, and at best, quite a bit better than the original. The Letter and Knock on Wood being better examples than this, altho this was cute.
