Chris Kania - 2009 High School Football Rudy Awards Nominee

http://www.HighSchoolRudyAwards.com - Chris Kania stood next to his quarterback in the shotgun formation as the East Brunswick High School football team lined up to run its first play from scrimmage before a near sellout crowd of 4,500 in its home-opener.

Kania took a handoff from signal caller Mauro Tucci and, just as the play was designed, followed his lead blocker before using a quick burst of speed to scamper around right end.

A small contingent of Monroe defenders feigned interest and playfully chased Kania. Pleased with their lack-of-effort, some smiled while staring at a white No. 65 on the back of a green jersey. Kania raced along the right sideline, increasing the distance between himself and the now stationary pursuers with each lumbering step. He sprinted alone into the crisp autumn night for an 80-yard touchdown.
