My friend Leifel Jackson is a former gang leader turned gang prevention and interventionist. After spending 8 years in a federal prison paying his penance, he returned to his home in the Little Rock area and began making a positive difference in the lives of hundreds of youngsters. Since 2001 he has worked tirelessly changing lives, one at a time. His nonprofit, Reaching Our Children and Neighborhoods (ROCAN) needs your help so he can continue his mission.
Take a few minutes to watch this tour through his facility. Keep your eye out for the apple of Leifel's eye, Little Miss Nadia!
You can see the two HBO documentaries right here on this YouTube channel. The first, featuring Leifel while leading a gang is Gang War: Bangin' in Little Rock and the follow-up, after his redemption, Back in the Hood.
If you'd like to help Leifel, please contact him at 501.247.7401 or email him at LRJACC@hotmail.com He needs your help. The children he serves need your help.
City Year and other volunteers worked like crazy on MLK's birthday putting the place in order and making it more conducive to fun and learning. You can help too by contacting Leifel at 501-247-7401
Ron King of Bicycles for Kids donated the office dividers for the tutoring room. Lots of people worked very hard. It was a great day of caring people coming together to help those of our community who frequently get left behind.
