In this video I test new rendering engine in 3ds Max 2011 named "Quicksilver". Test rendering speed include render outdoor scene with mental ray shaders.
Test Result: mental ray renderer 00:06:22, quicksilver renderer: 00:01:44
Moore details you can read at my blog: http://dimson3d.blogspot.com/ (only russian (use for translation google translator).
After 5 june 2010 ypu can read full review @ on-line magazine render.ru (only for russian readers).
@flame146 The use of this renderer is to make the the render faster using gpu. The results are much faster but the quality, though decent, is not precise as mentalray. I think it would have been better if mentalray adopted the use of gpu.

I don't know what is the use of this render engine... it is like 30% of scanline power...

@xenobrain and for animations is the best :D. usually gi isnt used in animations, at least not completly, but now can be added without problems ^- ^

You should be. 00:01:44 vs 00:06:22 may not seem like much, but the difference is much larger if you have even longer renders, such as turning a 20 minute render into a four-minute one. It's a massive productivity boost when you need to tune your render settings.
