These Video Guitar Lessons are a total beginner. This is video 3 of 6
Please watch all the videos as they will be a great help to you starting your journey with the guitar and music.

Finally you get to play.
Here I show you your first chords. G, C, D and Em (m meaning minor, so E minor)

Please pay attention to the 3 basic things I told you about in the first video and the correct fingers to use when playing the chords.

Remember that you're just getting your left hand fingers used to holding down chords. So be patient as it can talk a number of days if not weeks.

  • hi i have a question: for the G-chord, if we choose not to play the finger on the 3rd fret 2nd string, can we use finger 3 on the 3rd fret 1st string instead of finger 4?

  • @loveberrie

Ya that's still a G chord. That will work

  • the best and easiest to understand lessons i`ve come across.

i`m left handed and am playing the guitar upside down....i`m finding the G chord nearly impossible to play....any hints please.

  • If your just beginning I'd suggest you learn the the right way round, not upside down. All you have to do is restring the guitar you have. If you're stuck in your ways and don't want to change, I'd suggest putting your 3rd finger on the first string 3rd fret (skinny string) and your second on the 3rd fret of the 6th string and have it rest against the 5th (A) string to stop it ringing, that would give you an easy G chord. Thanks for you kind comment and best of luck with everything.

  • Hey man are there any special tricks/techniques for getting your fingers more nimble/natural on the guitar aside from practice practice practice (which i am doing)? For example, my pinky is still stiff as a board and also when I am reading music and not looking at the guitar I find myself hitting the wrong notes quite often. Any tips would be much appreciated, thanks!
