  • wah..gentleman`s promise!!!!!!

  • Stop judging people with their funeral population and anchor's support. I think we should define a merit first by understanding the core factors of progress, which includes Human Development Index, Inflation (in general) and inflation (food, clothes, education and health), religious freedom, economic freedom (no monopolies etc), women rights, old age benefits, labour welfare, unemployment benefits/allowances etc. These are the things which describes a leaders/party/army performance.

  • @79crab: Red flag on National Assembly of Pakistan (by Russia) - give me a brake. This false stance was spread by Zia's regime. Russian army came to Afghanistan on the request of Afghan government. There was a civil war going on (started in 78) and Afghan govt. was not able to control it.

What was the fragile time between July 77 and Dec 79? Waiting for Soviets? Pakistan did not even support Afghan resistance properly as US was not adequately "funding" until after Regan came in 80.

  • @kahmad1 Gen Zia will face Allah on the day of judgement for not holding the elections on time after he swore he wud do so. That is another matter.

But Pakistan needed a strongman to run the country in those fragile & difficult times. If the war wasnt fought then there wouldve been a red flag on the National Assembly of Pakistan at Islamabad and the Indians & Soviets wouldve been calling all shots in Pakistan.

  • @muhammadalipakistani Jinab how come there was no Jihad in Afghanistan? There was an atheist superpower (Soviet Union) in the neighboring brotherly Islamic state by against the will of the people and it posed a grave threat to Pakistan...cuz we couldnt have India and a Soviet Afghanistan at our borders. And THAT is how it became a Jehad for every Muslim across the world.

The peace you talk about was taken away by Gen (r) Musharraf and it brought along bombs & bloodshed.

  • @notedown The Pakistani Army has been rented out to America by Gen (r) Musharraf since the last 10 years now..true ! But Gen Zia never rented out the Army and neither did he ever bomb his own people (like the army is doing right now).

If you remember correctly, Gen Zia's funeral was the biggest ever funeral in Pakistan since Jinnah's. And after he died and when the other parties came into power, there was STILL alot of talk of ZIa being an honest person and a good President.

  • @79crab Total lie. Pakistan army is a pupet of USA and whenever America needs it they impose martial law in pakistan. They did the same thing before "War Against Terror" while selecting Musharaf.

  • @muhammadalipakistani Very true.

  • @79crab: Martial law was imposed in July 1977. Zia said he wanted to hold elections IN 3 MONTHS i.e. in October 77. Afghan war was started in Dec. 1979 not "after a few months" but after 2 years.

He said "Insha Allah" in his speech but did not hold elections. He simply lied to people.
