The first 16:9 wide screen broadcasting by Akira Kurosawa!

The first 16:9 wide screen broadcasting in the world
It was 'Yojinbo(Bodyguard)' of Fuji TV golden western-style painting theater
in April, 1980

Supervisor Kurosawa insisted on the movie broadcasting by the cinemascope size of Nortoriming that put a black taste up and down, therefore telecast by this size was achieved.
Moviegoer's 'Premiere' explanation of popular magazine committee is "Violence. " by "Selfishness of emperor Kurosawa" as for the broadcasting form. 「The screen becomes small too much and actor's face is not seen. There must be a size of the television in the television. 」It criticized. It is told that there is no example of having telecasted the cinemascope size movie without cutting a right and left screen before that though this article is seen.
That S. Even Kubrick did not tell '2001:A Space Odyssey' to crush the top and bottom in the black even if you demanded the supervision of the right and left trim edit when it made to the video, and the television was telecasted and to collect the right and left without cutting it it.
Therefore, this wide telecast size was not conceived, and no one demanded the execution excluding the Akira Kurosawa person.

It was not adopted in other Japanese film western-style painting broadcasting though this size was applied only to telecast of '30 camellia', 'High and Low(Heaven and hell)', and Kurosawa movies afterwards.
If the conception had not gone out though neither the video nor LD version movie series put on the market at that time are seen a wide size of whom in the world, it understands.
It was Fuji Television Network after all that adopted this Nortoriming collection for other movie broadcasting. A mini theater system western-style painting was uncensored telecasted with the broadcasting frame at midnight like a wide size. (In around 1983. )
The Japanese film video's having begun to adopt it : in around 1984. It is Kurosawa enthusiast barrel S to have adopted this for the first time with the western-style painting video as from Japan and a letterbox version . It was Spielberg. Thereafter, it became natural now (DVD version) though it took a considerable time to becoming of this collection method general.

The high-definition television development of NHK started first by 4:3, and was not a wide size television.
It is a Saitama Tsukuba exposition that an analog high-definition television was made public by a wide size of 16:9 in 1984. It was a process to which the wide size television spread, and it was a big problem how to do the mixture broadcasting as for the image of which it took a picture with the high-definition television camera. As for 4:3 standard televisions, it was possible to have broadcast, and the development should have run aground in the obstacle when the soil was not made if the top and bottom was crushed in the black.
Having made the soil is convinced and I am convinced that it was from a conception of stuck to supervisor Kurosawa , saying that "I do not want to cut a right and left cinemascope size screen".
The electric machine manufacturer sold and applied the wide-screen TV to the Japanese , saying that "All broadcasting the commercial broadcast shifts to a wide broadcasting in 1992".

Actually, the news programming still almost and the coverage thing that the ground digital, wide broadcasting started blacken the right and left by an old size of 4:3 and it is broadcast.

This must not forget the departure started from a black in the under mask in 'Bodyguard' either.
I want to shout that it is not caught in the custom of the television field, and an Akira Kurosawa who carried out belief as the image writer (artist) lead invented a new television age.
