Ambassadors lend a hand to the community

Last summer, SFPD Chief George Gascon launched a pilot Community Ambassadors Program (CAP) that hit the streets of the Bayview area in July 2010. During peak hour times that summer, twelve ambassadors spread themselves along the T-line and 9-San Bruno MUNI routs.

The purpose of these Ambassadors is to serve as role models and they offered residents assistance by escorting them home, providing safety tips, information about city programs and services, reporting violence or crimes in the neighborhood.
