This is a video of a demonstration burn at Gallaudet University. Several things went wrong on this demonstration that resulted in one fire fighter being injured. There are several "lessons learned" that emerged from this incident, including:
-Do not place a combustible plastic shield over the front of the mockup
-All personnel MUST be in full protective clothing prior to ignition
-A safety officer must be designated as well as command
-A backup crew and hose line supplied by an independent water source must be in place prior to ignition
-Do not approach the face of the mockup to suppress it. Discharge water from a distance and as the fire is being suppressed, move in closer to continue extinguishment
-Use NFPA 1403 Standard on Live Fire Training Evolutions
wow...not going to say much cept for his crew needs to watch each other during it
