GlobalTV BC's Randene Neill interviews Gregor Robertson for the Noon News program as to his reasons for not paying the proper transit fare, then claiming to be disputing the fine in court. Robertson was an elected MLA when he skipped the fare, and running for mayor of Vancouver during this interview. Robertson comes from an affluent household.
@jackiechan511 true but it costs more to take care of public transit compared to the other two public sectors

@eugene680 yes but if you had to commute multiple days you would just get either a monthly or yearly pass which in turn would work out to a lower daily fee

Ordinary citizens don't pay fines, they give transit cops fake names.

Could you imagine having a minimum wage job and paying a 3 zone ticket, $5.00 one way to go to work and $5.00 to go home? You have to work an extra hour just to cover the travel of keeping a job and going home.

If public highways are free, and public parks are free, then why not public transit?
