1988 Pepsi Firecracker 400 - Start/Big One

Believe it or not the first words said by the announcers in this clip are the first words they utter during the broadcast. Once again a great broadcast by ABC's Wide World Of Sports lol.

Anyway here is the starting lineup and start of the 1988 Pepsi Firecracker 400 from Daytona.

At the end of lap #2 a big wreck breaks out coming out of turn 4, not a true big one but it was the biggest wreck of the race.

The way ABC did these races back then was tape delay. And the commentary was added later in post production. They would actually sit in the booth and call something live if they needed to for the sat. feed, but they'd do all the editing afterwards for the final telecast.
