  • A solid cult hit

  • fantastic casting, fantastic director, enjoy the supernatural talents of the man P.T Anderson

  • is this an edited version of this scene. I feel like it was longer on the dvd I just watched of this.

  • @IfIfsandands

This film was originally called coffee and ciggerettes so be expecting of those things. ;)

  • @dasheight I'm a filmmaker and I use smoking as a prop, so to speak, all the time. SO you are the one that is wrong Sir and not Ifsandands. You seem a bit stressed if I may say so, perhaps you need to sit down and have a smoke?!

  • @IfIfsandands

often the smoke of their cigarretes works like a mask, mostly with the "tough guys" ads mistique, seriousness and works wel with alot of scenes i guess!

  • Great movie, especially Philip Baker Hall's performance, but is a person allowed to stand there and taunt other gamblers, or would he be asked to leave? I'm not much of a gambler, but other folks here might know more than I do.

  • This one scene made me like Hoffman.

  • Um. IfIfsandands. Were you ever in a Casino in the early 90's? Have you ever hung around con-men, or professional gamblers? Are you seriously suggesting that cigarette smoking is a "plot device"? You can't POSSIBLY be that clueless about these things. Oh - or are you just being obnoxious and wanting to push the whole "cigarettes are bad" thing onto a work of art that involves characters who, 95% of the time, are smokers? Your question is amazing. You can't possibly be an adult.

  • Question folks, why all the cigarette smoking in the film? It's a serious question too. is it a plot device? A prop to suggest a character trait? Any ideas, share them....
