In 1490, Kaiser Maximilian I awarded Franz von Taxis the contract to deliver mail between the Kaisers residences in Innsbruck and Brussels. He did such a good job, that postal services in the country continue to be connected with the name Thurn and Taxis.

With the introduction of postal carriages in the middle of the 17th century, members of the family were raised to Count status and given the hereditary title of Postmaster General.

Thurn And Taxis begins at this point in history. Can you emulate the achievements of this family and build a successful postal network? Do you have the talent to connect the right cities to create an effective network and not lose sight of the need to acquire new carriages when they are needed?

Plan your moves carefully and watch your opponents moves carefully, so you are prepared to respond to them. Thurn & Taxis takes you back in time and gives you challenges that will bring you back to the game over and over.

  • You start with NO cards in your hand and you have to take two on your first turn. Also, since you have to take cart cards in sequence, your hoarded 7 route will only give you the first available cart (3), which by no means ends the game. Also, since you have to either extend your route or discard it during your turn, I can't quite see, how one is able to "hoard" anything in the game.

I am sure you have found the answers long ago, but I wanted to add this for completeness sake.

  • ok, this helped..we played through a game - not that easy to understand the rules in the game. But this did help a lot. Still have some questions about how you start - how many in your hand? Two? Also, if you hoard your cards, and build one 7 route...the game is over?

  • Loved this. I have this game and have been trying to understand all of its rules. THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! You have a new subscriber!

  • Believ it or not, those are from my family in far away ^^
