Dean Tiessen is one of the owners of Pyramid Farms in Leamington. They grow 10 acres of Specialty Heirloom Tomatoes/Ceur De Bouef. This is a second generation greenhouse operation that has grown regular beefsteak tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers in the past. The greenhouse operation is heated using a wood chip biomass heating plant. The need for high quality ample supply of biomass for combustion resulted in Dean exploring purpose grown energy crops and the formation of Cantus Bio Power LTD of which Dean is the President. This company is working on the commercialization of miscanthus in Canada and a Joint venture with Bical of the UK in various markets like the US, Ukraine, Brazil, Russian Republic.
