Long stroke is ok. Short strokes quickly iterated shows considerably slow. It is also seen with simple Pencil tool.
Brush size : 10px
Drawing on a layer , not background

  • Well, I only see myself using the Cintiq, if ever, for lineart, and that can be done slowly for accuracy, so the only time the lag would really be bothersome is during a quick sketch.

Also, is there any pen pressure with the Cintiq? I saw none on the vid.

  • I agree. But it's strange that my slower laptop does not have such lag.

pen pressure: I used the lightest 'pencil' tool to show that the lag is not because brush is heavy.

  • Are you using a Cintiq tablet ? The 21 or the 12 size ?

Anyway, quickly iterated lines have been very difficult (if not impossible) to make correctly on both tablets i had (Intuos A4 and Cintiq 12wx) :(

  • I use 21inch Cintiq, and I've been confirmed that this problem appears with my intuos2 tablet.

  • Oh and is the glove thing on your hand used for traditional art so that you won't smudge anything?

  • Its winter and cold !

And the glove helps me sliding my hand smoothly.

  • when i bought mine i had the same problem, and thought that my cintiq was broken. but then i realized that when i used another programs like paint tool sai , or intel core painter, the pen speed was alright. so is not the cuntiq, is photoshop the problem.

  • OMG all I can do is laugh. Those guys at Adobe are clearly getting lazy.

thanks for your fast answer! i had the latest update for cs5 64bit, now i also updated the 32bit version. i thought maybe there is some connection. however, it had no effect.

i tried out all the advanced settings.. if i bring the dropdown menu to the "basic" setting it works fine. every other setting leads to lagging when using the tablet.

    I use a HP i7 Q720, 4Giga Ram with a GeForce GT230 - Win7 Home

Do you know what functions of PS are no longer aviable when disabling OpenGL?

  • @PoetOfLove69Kavi

If after installing the new update with OpenGL enabled you still have performance issues/slow brush then disable OpenGL again...

But if you already have the 12.0.3 update installed then just ignore this message :-)

  • @PoetOfLove69Kavi

I found that OpenGL provides some good features when it's enabled, although you can use Photoshop without OpenGL some features will be disabled.

    Try this:

Enable OpenGL Again, then download the 12.0.3 Update, which is the latest update for Photoshop CS5:

GOOGLE: "Adobe Photoshop 12.0.3 update for Adobe Photoshop CS5"

    and open the first link.

"...The Adobe Photoshop 12.0.3 update fixes a number of high priority bugs including painting performance and type-related issues..."

  • @0xNEVVG3N ... thanks man !! this worked for me!

CS5, Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch, HP i7 Laptop

  • why is the programm reacting so slow?

  • Nice hand. =3

  • you use gloves too??
