I love this song. I hav spent of my life in this region and happy hours on this magic river. As for truncated words, etc. This is an old folk song sung by mountain voices and not meant to be sung with perfect diction. Actually, while Sissel has a beautiful voice, I still love folk or country versions of this song. I think Tennesse Ernie Ford's was the first version I heard when I was a kid.
i had to agree with you. I do not have the chance to live by the river. Maybe, when I do, I'd prefer the folk version, too. For now Sissel sang perfectly, to me.
u have no idea how to sing like a soprano. proper way to pronounce while sing as soprano, somehow or rather it has to end with "ah", "ee", "eh" "oh" "uhh". it doesnt have to pronounce the full word and that makes the song unique after all.
upaa, it's first of all you who got no clue about what "soprano" is refering to and not Authilus who said nothing to this matter. It's not a singing style, but a voice range. Authilus is in his perfect rights to complain about truncated word pronunciation even under the realization this is a soprano singing. There is no rule saying sopranos cannot singing whole words. It is common though, that sopranos emphasize vocals. To better support Sissel you should rather suggest rap to Authilus:-)
Under absolutely any form and orchestration, this song it is a sublime one. I like the brass version with Romanian Young Brass , i like Tennessee Ernie Ford with this song, and for sure Sissel This river must be very beautiful
