My mind always seems to go through possibilities like that, really violent ones too. Like, what if I stabbed this person standing here, how would people react. or, what slammed the teachers head on the desk, and calmly sat down. I've never acted on them, but I guess I just like to play around with these thoughts.

A cartoon I once saw put this quite well. The lowest one percent of any given group is usually the most vocal. When the more polite majority of a group talks to another group, they are more often than not talking to the meanest, smallest portion of that group, but because so many of the conversations turn out like that, they get the impression they are talking to the other group's majority. In return the jerky bottom-feeders get the polite people angry and have their opinions reinforced by it.
