@7373walker He disowns that statement these days but still - to the best of my knowledge (please correct me and show me where to find it) has never apologised to Salman Rushdie. He talks about being angry and naive when he said it. Ok. I can buy that (though I must say I've never said anything remotely as dreadful - even when I was a young man). But he's a mature man now. He's had a long time to think about it. Why hasn't he had the good manners to apologise?

@JoeyBlue01 @JoeyBlue01 Yusuf recieving a Quran is the short version. He decided that he needed to find the right religion and decided that he had spent his whole life in Christianity- hus original religion- and that it wasn't for him. Then he tried out heaps of other religions until finally his brother, who had heard of his sudden interest, gave him a copy of the Quran as a Christmas present. And the more he read it the more he knew it was for him.

Was there in Adelaide and it was incredible. His voice and the passion for the music was all still there. Could have done without the allah related ear bashing but I guess it's better than a few dozen lashings. He will always be Cat no matter how long he calls himself yusuf

I like Tea for the Tillerman, but I think that he hasn't been Cat Stevens for a long time. He openly supported the fatwah on Salman Rushdie and said that he would immediately give up Rushdie to be killed. This has to be recognised as abhorrent behaviour, as peaceful as his earlier music was.

He's done a lot of charity work here in the UK, and opened a few elementary primary schools for kids. He's a good example of a Muslim.
