My cat, Mike, has this very bad habit of dragging her butt on any cloth surfaces she finds. Please note that she is not suffering from any anal sac condition or had worms on her anal.

  • hit her with the squirt bottle. she'll learn to stop doing it in certain areas. as long as you dont try to stop the problem completely it will be way easier

  • @thatkidshaun Oh I did try that method which the vet suggested but it did not work. :X

  • One of our cats started doing this a couple of weeks ago!!He doesn´t have worms or any condition either (checked by a vet), so of course I googled and googled until I found your video and feel better now I know I´m not alone XD I wonder wether they find it arousing, cause I can´t think of any other good explanation for this behaviour...

  • @LaChatteGrise Me either... So I just attribute her butt-drag as a very bad habit. :x Maybe they do that because they like the feeling? I don't know too. Hahaha!

  • My cat doing it on carpet everyday too... but I don't like that...anything can stop them doing it??? I don't want to walk on there shit..........................

  • @happyosman If it is a cat's habit, it is hard to change, like mine. But we try to stop our cat as soon as we spot her in the position ready to drag her butt. We also hit the area she sits on (eg, the bed, rag) and talk to her in the scolding tone. Once the cat is caught or alerted immediately, it will stop whatever it wanted to do.

  • Itchy butt or wants to wipe its poop off of its fur ? xD

  • this is really weird o.O i thought that was a dog thing

  • does your cat go to a groomer or the vet very frequently?

  • @happyosman It may be constipated or have worms. If it's just a habit or if she/he may have an itchy bum, then it's OK, start squirting her lightly with warm water. If it is constipation/worms, then see a vet and give it worming tablets and if it is constipation, then maybe change it's diet, but always consult the vet before you do anything rash (medical wise, squirting water is fine!). I hope it turns out OK!

  • @dashingblue aww well your cat is like mine... hard headed. good luck

  • When cats or dogs do that it's almost always because they have a blockage or buildup in their anal glands. You should probably express them, or take them to a vet (or possibly groomer, if you trust them) to have the expressed. This is not just a habit. It's a sign of discomfort for the cat (or dog).

  • my cats dragging there butt 2 i wonder why ??? but iff iuf hes doing that on your bed keep him out of your room lol

  • my cat did this on my living room carpet and left racing tracks all over. We weren't home for another 2 hours so she had been doing it for at least 2 hours non-stop and trust me, there was a lot of brown streaks all over.
