I am a Texan who loves New Mexico.  I love the Albuquerque area. The fact that it is a large metro. area relatively isolated from other large metro. areas gives it the opportunity to develop speech patterns that are unique. You don't sound stupid. I don't want everybody to sound the same. It is all cool.

Haha! I always crack up when I see this. I grew up in Taos. Recently someone teased me be caused I said "aig" for "egg". My husband also gives me a hard time when I call my family back home....he says I say "Eeeeeeee nooooooo...realllyyyyyy" haha Many others not shown on the vid.

I guess we don't sound all that dumb. But the context she's speaking in definitely makes me feel as if our style of talking isn't quite as educated as other accents... but that's just the stuff she's saying. I was wrong about all us New Mexicans talking dumb (:
