@dawhealer, there's not a truer word than you said. Normally I dislike anything you counted, but here I agree with you to the limit! He's really a Texas treasure!

@raptureup : Whatever you want to call it, Guy's music (like Townes') really defies labeling. I've seen him classified as country, folk, Americana, and Texas. Being a 5th generation Texan living in Austin, I like the "Texas" classification, but what's more important is that he's recognized. I've been listening to him since the '70s and have never heard a bad recording or seen a bad performance. He's a true master and a Texas treasure even though he's now in Nashville.

@bill77777776, my feelings exactly. Country music for those who dislike country.

I watch this and feel like I am looking at art. Every word is a masterpiece of American songwriting. The history of Texas is written in every line on his face.

Man I'm a huge Bob Dylan fan, but I'm starting to think Guy Clark is a better songwriter.
-
Awesome song rivals Dylan's best work.

This man is truly an exceptional writer & performer!

Thanks for sharing your voice with the world, Guy. I'm 54 and JUST found out about you. I thought I hated country music but then I realized I wasn't really listening to it from the crap that is played on the radio. You, on the other hand, represent what country is supposed to be about. Thank you.
Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift and the rest of you pop singers with a twang can keep playing your music to the Brokeback Mountain set.
