Knicky, 30 years old. A typical day in the life of our retired Shetland pony that has a lot of attitude, as do most Shetlands! He is our love and is the self appointed farm and lawn manager. He is currently struggling with Cushing's Disease and has had a nice remission with treatment this summer, so here is his video of summer fun. The old horse trailer is his "summer cottage". Not very pretty, but he LOVES having a place of his own that he doesn't have to share with the BIG guys and is so close to his "job"!

  • Knicky is the greatest pony ever! I say "is" because even though he has passed, he still remains in our hearts and memories, and no one or pony/horse can ever replace our beloved Knicky. NO ONE OR PONY/HORSE! *tear*

  • He is very much missed indeed. 30 years is a long time to have a pony .....even on the sunporch!

  • Oh...I just read that Knicky had passed. We were so sorry to hear that. I'm so happy that you had him for as long as you did and gave him the kind of life all ponies deserve. You are an inspiration.

  • Yah, sad. But he was always loved very much. How much more could he ask for in life? A gentle life. So many are not so priveleged.

    Thanks!!!!

  • Knicky is soooo cute! Wow! 30 years old! I don't know if Knicky is still around, given that he had/has Cushings, but I sure hope so. What a wonderful life you gave/give to that darling pony!

  • Our Knicky was just put to sleep. We are so saddened by this loss, but have so many amazing memories. He was with us his entire life, as was his dear mother who was 32. Her name was Popperette, so you can see the impact she made in my life, as I use her name as my "handle".

  • Yes, I am sorry for your loss. I had already posted when I read your other post of Knicky's passing.

I did pick up on the "handle." <grin?

You were obviously, a great mom to both Popperette and her get. ;-)

Please feel free to email me, directly. Ruth.Warner@ ix dot netcom dot com, if you like.

    Take care,

    Ruth

  • Thank you for the compliment. He is on Vintage Senior and Vita-E crumbles & Selinium. He gets lawn from 1 - 3 hours a day/ split in 2 sessions in the summer with increases in the fall and a flake of hay AM & PM with his grain & vities. His needs are really high because of his disease.
