To play a string section on a Mellotron.....one has to think like a violin player...not a keyboard player even if it is keys.

@Keyboardman88 If you're after an authentic orchestral effect, then yes, agreed; otherwise, I'm of the opinion that it depends on the effect you're trying to achieve. I've never been comfortable with the idea that one should be limited to just playing in one certain way because the sound they're using might dictate as much. I think that as long as the result of what you play 'works' in its context, that is the important thing.
