-2 x 7,26kg hammer-
This was my second time throwing the 2 x 7,26kg hammer ever, and I'm not sure I'll continue throwing it but it is great specific strength and does make the 7,26kg hammer feel light. It might be good as a transition from a lighter hammer to a heavier during a session. But try looking at it as a tribute to Devyatovskiy ;)
-7,26kg hammer-
Easy throws where maintaining a centered rotational axis is main objective. Unfortunately the lowest point is gradually transferred to the left throughout the throw and hammer pressure is almost lost by the time of release (on left side).
- short 12kg hammer-
The whole equipage is about 70 cm long. Good for specific strength and helps activating back muscles. Mind the short radius - you might throw farther by concentrating on rotational speed, that is however NOT the objective. Long radius and big strokes are of primary concern.
-Bench twist-
Head is placed on a bench to enable free rotational movement, as opposed to resting the shoulders on a bench. Bum is placed on a Pilates ball instead of af bench to enable hip movement. As hip-shoulder separation isn't as essential in hammer as in shot/disc/javelin, I prefer to protect the lower back from the stress that a separation causes. This is also the reason for my left knee to be placed slightly elevated - to reduce separation.
-Twist on belly back-
You can go hard without having to worry about lower back when posture is lost. The worst that can happen is that you twist your body 90 degrees without protective tension in abdominal muscles. 90 degrees is not enough to harm your lower back. However if you're facing the ceiling and going from side to side, and you lose tension and drop to one side, the weight might force you way past the point of healthy, muscle aided movement. Key is to avoid straining vertebrae and ligaments.
-Twist on belly back with bar-
The wide span of the bar creates great momentum, and by stretching the arms when stopping the momentum of the bar the straight arms act like levers and makes stopping the bar harder. Straight arm rotational movements is central in hammer throw.
The reason why my elbows aren't kept straight while doing twists is because I get elbow pains from it. Keeping arms as straight as possible is never the less very important.
How far are you throwing the 7.26k right now?

@NHThrower8 Well it's hard to say as weather conditions has gotten a lot worse lately. It's cold, wet and windy, so I don't know how far I can throw it. However I usually put them around 63-65m.
