1997 Geo Metro - Frosty Morning Defrost

Frosty 6am morning, and decided to make a video of the Metro defrosting the windows.

But when I started the car and had the camera with me I went to record and the battery was dead. So I had to put the camera to charge for a bit and came back and started recording after the Metro defrosted the windows.

When the engine control module is in closed loop and the engine is running in in the correct ignition timing and with the correct compression and also when the air to fuel ratio is near 14.7:1 (stoichiometric ratio), it is common to see the catalytic converter emitting CO2 and water vapor as a by product on the exhaust. This is when the whole system is running fine.

I heard that if water comes out of the tailpipe then that is a sign of a good cat. converter.

Thats just one of the by-products of combustion, its water vapor. If the car is not hot, water vapor will condense and come out of the exhaust via the exaust pipe, until the water gets hot enough to revaporize. Now if it does this after the car is already hot or if that water and/or vapor is sweet smelling....then you got a problem.......Blown Head Gasket!

i had a 97 metro lsi (4 cyl) little red thing, ran amazing had 120k miles on it, i got it for 900 dollars, i managed to still get 40mpg even when i florred it everywhere i went, i ended up trading it for a 95 t-top camaro though. but now im gonna sell my maro for 4k spend 1k on getting another geo back and then have 3k left over to trick it out :)

Yes, I studied in Automeca, then worked 4 years as an automotive technician. I have the same car with the 4 cylinder engine. Great cars to save on gas. Keep up those informative videos, great work.
