You didn't quite get much of the sentence above, right? Well, it's because it blends some American and British slangs.

The fantastically talented Hugh Laurie paid a house call to Ellen, at her "The Ellen DeGeneres Show". They played an exciting game of American slang versus English slang -- it was hilarious. Have fun and learn the slangs. Then, try to "translate" the sentence into more "conservative" English words.

  • Well if I heard an American say "shawty" i'd hear "shoddy" and assume they were pointing out something of questionable integrity.

    Examples: That's a shoddy bike. His missus is shoddy.
