And what about immersive environments such as second life of first-person videogames? That would be fantastic!

could someone be a samaritain, and tell me how to fully get this running. i am running ubuntu 8.04 lts.

Yeah lol, wasn't till after I posted I relised I was talking about something totally different.;)
I'm thinking of how when windows are transformed with freewins with DRI they aren't actually moved.Which is fixed in DRI2.
-
No, it's not. You're thinking of the wrong thing. ;)

Its a limitation in DRI, which will be fixed in DRI2

The tricky point is how to detect wich hand is which when they cross over the head. Or how to discriminate head and hands by size when head is farher away thus looking smaller, and in the worst case the similar size as hands.
What kind of trig are you thinking of?

Size of the hand*
Sorry, wrote the past three replies in quick succession, didn't really read them over...
-
Save of the hand relative to a defined value, perhaps? If you know where the head is, you can get a rough estimate of where the hands are in relation to that and the 3d display with some trig.

It's a bug in how freewins operates (but not technically "a bug in freewins")
an integration with freewins would be cool!

It works well with freewin. Just it breaks a little the perspective of the rotated windows, I don't know why.

Wow, that's cool.
I can think of many applications for it onto PC desktops and 3D immersive environments.
I am sure there is a parameter implemented so the user may configure the offset ratio related to the head's movement, isn't it?
So one can move its head to look behind a window that's blocking the view, without using the mouse...

Yes, and tracking the hands may permit to push a window to better look behind.
