I served in the PEACE CORPS helping with humanitarian issues: Boys + Girls Clubs, Camp Easter Seal, Food Banks/Food not Bombs, habitat for humanity... Ive Donated $10,000's to UNICEF (take note religious people-stop giving to Church-biggest charity) and Animal/Vegan groups like MFA that benefits humans alot-they are connected. Leaving animals alone helps our health/care, planet, Billions of abused Mammals, reduces World Hunger alot-every 10lbs corn/grains given to chicken only gives 1lb flesh!

i sorta get where ur comin from...im vegetarian for the simple reason i dont want to kill animals so i can eat meat. animal cruelty whether intentional or through the process of providing meals both i cant be a part of, especially after u find out its not quite humane! also i understand the whole abortion issue with ron paul, its very complex but thats the debate on abortion, its a real difficult one, i do believe there are exceptions, but careless unprotected sex, no im sorry i dont agree!

Also $300,000 to raise a kid today. BTW I served in the Peace Corps helping with many humanitarian issues from needy in food backs, habitat, food not bombs, camp easter seal, etc. I ve donated thousands to uncef (take note religious people, giving to churches does little to no good) and animal/vegan groups like mercy for animals that benefits humans more than most human issues, they are connected. Helps our health care, environment, billions of mammals and even reduce hunger alot!

Yea that's more or like my position. If the fetus has brainwaves, feels pain, and is conscious, any harm to it would constitute a harm to a viable human being with natural rights.
But it gets trickier, since its in a symbiotic relationship with the mother, say if the mother health was in danger, would it be self defense to get rid of the fetus?. It's just strange.
But someone has to speak for those who can't, where its animals subject to cruelty or developed fetus.

@bluesrockfan36 I agree that it is not a simple issue. In my understanding, the fetus belongs to the woman until it is born. It is her alone who takes the health risk. If the woman decides for any reason that she can not have the baby, she has the right to end the pregnancy. If you want to say that after 6 months or so the fetus is capable of living and therefore it should be considered an individual, I may be persuaded, but there must be a reasonable and enforceable line.

The subject is more complex than that. It's a natural rights issue.
If you harm or kill a fetus (and you're not the mother or don't have her consent), you go to jail.
So at which point does the fetus/baby, earn natural rights?. They cannot be contingent on the whims of the mother, or by definition they wouldn't be natural rights.
It makes no sense that aborting a full gestated 9 month fetus isn't considered murder, yet killing it a second after birth is.
I am pro choice and I support Ron Paul but I disagree with him on abortion. Individual rights apply only to individuals. A fetus is physically part of a woman until it is born out into the world. A woman has the right to choose the course of her life. Having a child is a value judgement. She doesn't have to sacrifice 20 or more years of her life for a child she doesn't want. Besides, a law must be enforceable. If abortion is murder, every miscarriage would require a criminal investigation.

@Talamanca3 good points. Also, it will happen regardless, they will just do it unsafely via drugs, alcohol or coat hangars like prohibition it will not stop. Also, nobody can force someone to be a parent as noted.
