He was trying to play safe on the second ball but the shot was a foul because nothing hit a rail / cushion after he contacted his object ball. Ball-in-hand to the girl.

2nd shot was terrible. the ball clearly didnt have enough weight to make one of the other two balls touch a rail, he might as well have shot the cueball directly into the pocket.

omg they are playing ball in hand something has to hit a rail after contact is made with the object ball... thats pretty much how you play pool in every tourney in the world. second shot wasn't poor at all either, if he hit it harder he could have made the object ball but probably pocketed the eight as well... he was probably playing a lower skill level and just wanted a break out.
