After a long hospitalisation, what technical proficiency I'd achieved on the mountain dulcimer had basically disappeared. Rather than get demoralised about it, I'm just playing some good old rock & roll.
The instrument is an old Kentucky hourglass, expertly restored by David Lynch in Missouri.
@swordrawn Thanks for the very kind words. I don't use tabs and would not know how to produce one, but this blues progression in E is very easy. The dulcimer is tuned DAD. The first chord is a "bar" over fret 1. The second chord is on fret 4 except for the melody string, which does takes a hammer-on (with my pinky) from the open string to fret 1. The last chord is a "bar" on fret 3. Everything else is just embellishment. (This instrument has a 1 1/2 fret, but I'm not using it here. )
Sounds great! You ought to post this over at Friends of the Mountain Dulcimer. Your angry Shady Grove belongs in the Call the Tunes group there, too. Hope you are feeling better.
outstanding. id like to see the tabs for it. that's wonderful
