Actually that is about as fast as those are supposed to run. Any faster and they wouldn't package the product correctly.

by the way what exactly are these machine supposed to do? (apart from package) what are they meant for packing? Baked Beans? toothpaste?

Good question! They originally were made by Imation, a spin off of 3M and I believe they were prototypes of a packaging machine for 3 1/4 computer disks since there was a pile of them around the machine. I think I might see if I can have the two machines pass slices of bread back and forth for the hell of it.

are they powered off compressed air?

Yep, I used a small air compressor to power the actuators. You can hear it turn on in the background.

put the speed up as fast as it goes!!

It's as fast as I can crank it. The compressor is too small to make the machine blistering fast.
