Having grown up with both Fairport Convetion and Steeleye Span, I couldn't ever choose which I preferred. I'm just glad that I can listen to this when the mainstream bubble-gum pop starts to irritate me. It's so beautiful. Maddy Prior's voice is just amazing.
Believe me, if someone said i could sing like her, I would be so happy. On the other hand, if someone said I could sing like Simon Nichol I'd be quite confused as to why I sounded like a man.

Both superb bands, and thankfully there's no need to choose between them. They were both tilling the same soil but grew wonderfully different crops in it.
