A sign-off from WLVI-TV 56 in 1987. Features legendary station announcer Tom Evans, an early morning prayer from Fr. William Cahill, and an SSB film with nature scenes. This version of the station sign-on was in use no earlier than 1986; after WLVI became a Gannett station in 1983, sign-ons and sign-offs continued to use the 'boxed' version of the 56 logo from the Field era for a few years. Thereafter, this updated version took over.

  • Too bad you didn't include a few seconds of snow at the end of the clip.

  • There wasn't snow to include from the original source of this clip.

  • In This Clip, From 0:00 To 0:49, It Was WLVI-TV's Sign-Off Video ID From 1987.

  • @thug00187 I don't think it's the background so much as it is the lighting. The lighting is terrible.

  • I wonder if Tom Evans is still alive?

  • I used to stay up late at night just to see this.

  • WOW!!

  • i wonder if a religious thing and the star spangled banner would be played on a sign on/off nowadays.

  • IMO the best SSB sign off video EVER! I used to stay up to watch Dark Shadows and The Avengers and then see that sign off. I miss the old Channel 56, long before The WB and then CW took it over.

  • He looks like Holly from Red Dwarf

  • Father Cahill scares the bejesus out of me.Kinda reminds me of the guy at the beginning of that old show "Lights Out".
