Buckingham Palace Bombed (1940). Footage of the palace after it was bombed by the Germans during the Blitz. The King and Queen were in fact in residence during this particular bombing. Queen Elizabeth (Queen Mother) famously declared after this event, "I'm glad we have been bombed. Now I can look the East End in the face"

The smouldering wreckage of a German bomber can be seen on the palace itself being hosed down by a fire brigade team.
