  • Do you have the duet Lucia - Raimondo??? I don't know if it's included in this recording. Sometimes it's cut - unfortunately!

  • Do you mean "Al ben de' tuoi," the act two bit where Raimondo sings for a while and then they converse and then sing together for a bit? If you do, it's here, and I'll post it.

  • can you post the sextet and the following scene after that?? thanksss!!

  • I'm posting it right now.

  • She is the best Lucia PERIOD. Yes, Callas was the first to popularize Lucia and to make it a true dramatic masterpiece. But as I always say, there was life after Callas. Anna Moffo makes a haunting Lucia, fragile, beautiful, dark and tragic. She expresses all the emotions of the character with her brilliant singing. A true star

  • Beautiful! Both the rendition and the recording are great. The spine tingling coloratura makes you want to hear more and more, Moffo lives!...

  • Moffo's interpretation makes BOTH dramatic AND musical sense.

So few interpretations achieved that, including Sutherland!!!

  • This song is definitely the undisputed skill Moffo. Netrebko and better than any other. taf289

  • Very Good .

  • Some say that in the 1950's, the BEST Lucia WAS Moffo, not Sutherland!

  • @MrAndredekock

do you know/understand the basics of the belcanto period ? that ornaments and embellishments were expected to be added? many listeners have gotten so used to the ornaments "normally used" that they actually believe the composer wrote them --- take the time to find the Leibling of Ricci books of ornaments ---- these books actually show the "regular/normal" embelishments that have been handed down for 150 years

  • This is a real tragedy on its own ..... the waste of what was a magnificent voice! The one criticism I have always had of Moffo is that her coloratura passages are far too overdone and one waits for the Moffoism to come to end as she finally gets back to either Donizetti or Bellini. But she had everything going for her and when she auditioned for a bursary in her youth the adjudicators insisted that all the candidates sing from behind a screen unseen because of Moffo's absolute beauty.

  • thank you god bless you! i've been looking for this for a long time.

  • GREAT! Absolutely beautifully sung! And finally someone pronounces 'regnava' correctly.. Grazie Anna :)

  • Wow! I've heard so many recordings and live peformances of Lucia's 1st aria but here in Anna's rendition it is like I am hearing it for the first time. Very unique and expressive with a beautiful easy top. No screechy sound Natalie can sometimes have or mumbled Joan or nasal Maria or growly Angela. Just pure vocal beauty, sound dynamics and characterization. Thanks for posting this.

Anna for ever!
