Labrador doing bite work? Heck yes!!

In this video I am using a bite sleeve as reinforcement for Crash. Essentially, we are playing a game of tug, my arm just happens to be the tug toy.

I wanted to make this video to show people that you can pretty much do anything with any dog, it doesn't matter what breed they are. Now is Crash a schutzhund dog? No, but he is a confident Labrador playing a silly game that some feel is only reserved for mals or shepherds.

Also, just because a dog bites a sleeve doesn't mean that it is aggressive or an attack dog! It is just a game....

Now, if this were real bite work training there would be a million things wrong with my decoy work and Crash's grip, but guess what? It is just for fun!!!

Gotta love that bark and hold, good boy Crash :)

  • You're the handler and decoy? Wtf? Good thing your dog think it's all a game (never could do real protection) otherwise you'd be screwed. LOL.

  • @MPolewka Oh geez, just cause you can't think outside the box doesn't mean others are incorrect for doing so. I know many trainers that have been both, and it has worked out wonderfully for them.

  • Nice, thanks for breaking a stereotype. Like your work and Crash is a gorgeous labby :P

  • @zarakitten99 Thanks!

  • well now that mines 1 he growls and barks at the dog i literally have to stop him

  • @yarinlevi591 no dog "attacks" any dog can participate in schutzhund, and one of the sections of schutzhund is bite work, the dog is not trained to attack a person, but trained that the bite sleeve is a toy and just bites it for fun, although it is trained to be aggresive towards it and the reason the sleeve was released was to reward the dog for doing the bite, the dog is then on a high because it has won the sleeve.

  • fucking shit

he took the shield and run ...

that not good but for labrador this good because labradors dont attack

  • i thought labs wherent guard dogs

  • @Hudson2012 Congrats on your dog! Rotties are wonderful. I

  • @MPolewka i agree. Hopefully they will read and listen to the comments like ours as well. Proffessional trainers are always the way to go when you want to train real protection. I trained my Rottie advanced obedience and basic protection work for to have a foundation, then because I felt I didnt have the knowledge to train any further in protection I went to a professional for to teach both of us how to continue and its the best thing I ever did. She is turning into an amazing dog. 13 months old

  • @Hudson2012 You are right but the hardcore music gives the wrong impression. The average person on here is going to mistake this for real protection work and think it's a good idea to do this at home. By reading the other comments one can see how many truly believe this is for real.

  • @MPolewka when you are working with prey drive you can take bites from your own dog because it is all prey drive (a game). Once you get into defense drive in protection work it CANNOT be done by the handler. That would be like betraying your dogs trust. The dog must feel threatened and feel like it has to defend itself. This is all prey drive work, and is all for fun. So decoy and handler is fine.

  • awwww the music is so innappropriate lol. We use our labs as gun dogs, retreivers etc... amazing bits of kit! And lovely pets

  • Obedience and bite work in the same exercise? Don't try this at home, with a mali, rotty, cane corso, or other hard, high drive, guard dogs. They may turn back on you for that bite :) Nice Lab.
