Our first "Pregnant Pause"/flashmob. Sure, it shows...but hey! We had fun! We need more participants.
The whole concept of the Pregnant Pause is to bring awareness to people who feel it is okay to have a little alcohol when they are pregnant, that it will not harm the infant inside the womb.
Unfortunately, alcohol pickles the brain of the infant in your womb. It slows the growth of the brain and body as the infant starves for hydration from the amniotic fluid inside your body that the alcohol has depleted.
Children with FAS/FASD are affected for the rest of their lives. Families are affected for the rest of their lives. Our plea? PLEASE do not drink while pregnant!
Life is hard for those with FASD
More difficult than it is for you or for me.
In their mother's womb for the months of nine,
Mom thought it was okay to drink liquor, beer, or wine
But the effects are there now and will forever remain
In the life of a child who was never to blame.
Our purpose here is not to bring shame,
But to let everyone know this disease has a name.
Mom's can one hundred percent prevent this disorder.
Just skip the alcohol when you place your order.
Let us be aware of this day in September
And all take a moment to pause and remember.
Remember the truth about what can be done.
FASD is preventable for everyone!
Good luck to those angels, who struggle day by day.
And know that beside you is where we will stay.
To fight this fight, and let it be shown
The risks of prenatal alcohol are TOO GREAT TO BE KNOWN!
Many can tell you, only once can damage the babe, same as having sex only once can get you pregnant.

Of course, as I stated, it was our first. The children were quite excited and failed to come in at the intervals they were supposed to and the adults that were supposed to join in....well, we only had a few that day, though over 50 had promised to come.
As for alcohol while pregnant, it is really a game of roulette. If you drink when portions of the babe's brain is being developed, then you've just ruined that infant.

I am not quite sure this qualifies as a "mob" . And I drank a wee bit with each kid. No problems. Everything in moderation is key. More kids are damaged by being delivered in a hospital, medical intervention and Csections than a 3 oz glass of red wine will ever do.
