Petition to End Womens Suffrage

The 19th amendment to the Constitution gave women the right to vote in the United States. My senior year of high school for a project we went downtown Boise and acted like we were trying to "end womens suffrage" to see if people knew not only what that meant but if they knew what the 19th amendment was.

DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT AGAINST WOMENS RIGHT TO VOTE, I AM VERY MUCH FOR IT. THIS WAS JUST A SCHOOL PROJECT TO DEMONSTRATE THE LACK OF AWARENESS OF THE PEOPLE.

You are right to a point, we could have been a little more proper. BUT, what you don't see in the video is the giant sign we had professionally printed that said END WOMENS SUFFRAGE, SIGN THE PETITION!

A. failed to tell the guy @ 1:21 that that the petition was to REPEAL it.

&

B. failed to realize that he may actually be for the ending of women's suffrage.

The petitioner failed to specify that the petition was for the REPEALING of the 19th amendment.

The man asked if it "was a reenactment" This shows that he was thinking that it was a petition (like the original) for the 19th amendment.

Watch it closely.

The guy knew what the 19th was, but the kids omitted the reason for the petition (to END it). The guy seems like he thinks he's signing a reenactment of instating womens suffrage.

This survey wasn't carried out correctly. Most people actually knew what women's suffrage was but weren't clearly told that the petition was to end it. Fail on your part.
