I still like the Smartbeep commercial better. The blonde in the backseat is hilarious. "I felt it!"

i love that you have this clip here ... i saw this as a short film (in the theaters) which i believe was called the The Big Date in 1996 or 97 before the movie Waiting For Guffman and have been trying to find a copy of the whole thing for years. While she is getting ready for the date talking to her friend on the phone etc she is eating a giant bowl of beans! Not sure why this was shown on TV with a laugh track but either way great find ... now to find the whole short film!

i dont care how many times its been played lol its hillarious because its everyones secret worse nightmare lol
Snopes has this as a standard urban legend. They seem to imply that it's been around for as long as teens have been driving. I don't think any film-maker can claim ownership of the idea.

I wasn't aware that Snopes listed it, but it doesn't surprise me. The joke's probably been recited, enacted and even filmed for several decades.

This looks to be proof it was too freshly made, after the SmartBeep ad. Looks and sounds too much like an indi. film maker did.

Yeah, except for the fact that this was broadcast six years before the Smartbeep advert was.
Which, as is already mentioned in the summary, wasn't even original to the campaign itself. They'd already filmed another one with the roles reversed, aired a couple of years beforehand without incident.

Don't know, some sketch show I guess. It was on Tarrant on Tv, a popular British clip show.
