  • Where can you get Sodium Hydroxide? Is there a name brand for it? I want to make a switch from baking soda if the hydroxide is better..Thx for the tip mark :)

  • I use "Roebic" brand crystal drain opener. I buy it at Lowes home improvement store for 7-8 dollars. Be carefull it is very dangerous.A very small amount goes a long way.Use this product at your own risk I cannot be responsible for any ijury or loss.

  • Add a catalyst like some baking soda about a teaspoon full. This will make gas like mad :)

  • This is a very old video. I am way past this now. By the way using baking soda generates a huge amount of co2. you are decieving yourself with baking soda.Sodium hydroxide is the best electrolyte but it is really a matter of the energy you put in.

  • Hi Mark,

Firstly, great job for your first cell.

I am a little worried about the amount of amps being drawn though. I think that your cell plates must be touching, conducting all the electricity without passing much through the water.

Is the bolt you're using to hold them together touching any plate?

Please perform a continuity test out of the water to see if any electricity passes from one end to the other. Hook up the battery charger when it's dry to see if it pulls any amps.

  • no continuity dry, I think the current plate arrangement is optimal because only the flat areas are functioning anyway. I ground away the bend on the positive plates. The bent bevel when reversed to the next negative plate seems to guide water flow across the plates at a very good velocity.I belive this causes the bubbles to seperate faster from the plates and free up surface area occupied by the center of the bubble which while in contact is a nonproductive area.

  • mine can use no electrolyte and it works

  • increase the voltage useing a transformer. The electrons have to move with a good amount of force to brake the bonds. Check the bond energy of hydrogen and oxygen, then divide that by the mass of an electron and u have the voltage required for effective disociation. When u get the ratio close you should get mch better H2 and O2 production. Also, check out the resanant frequency of water, and set the system to it. Hope that helps.

  • Here in the UK ITS in a yellow bottle its called HEAVY DUTY Drain Opener @ B&Q in the Plumbing,

contains Sodium Hydroxide and Potassium Hydroxide Found It eats the ss I have gone back to using Baking Powder Co2 is minimal see MOT test RESULTS BY

    Thx:)

  • it should be bubbling for you with this setup. you must have leaks. at 10 amps with this arrangement you should be getting about 150mlpm and see alot more bubbles. all my work has been with switch plates. a another plate to make 5. arrange them -n+n- use nylon bolts.

  • I also noticed that you're using what looks like switch plates - I'd suggest turning them so that they're all facing the same direction - this should give an equal spacing between each plate and increase your productivity.

    Hope this helps :)
